Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 21 Verse 18
Revelation 21:18 speaks of the New Jerusalem, the heavenly city that will come down from the sky at the end of time. The wall of the city is described as being made of jasper, and the city itself is said to be pure gold, like pure glass. The imagery is symbolic, showing that the city of God will be infinitely beautiful and precious. The image also conveys the idea of the city being very strong and secure, just like a wall made of jasper. The gold and glass imagery is meant to convey the idea of a place that is perfect and untainted by sin. The image of a city of gold and glass serves as a reminder of the eternal beauty and the purity that God offers to those who are faithful to Him.
