Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 20 Verse 2
Revelation 20:2 describes an angel of God coming down from heaven and laying hold of the dragon – the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan – and binding him for a thousand years. This is part of the vision of the end times that John the Apostle was given, and part of a chain of events that will lead to the final judgment. The Devil is bound for a thousand years so that he will not be able to deceive the nations for that time, and the believers of God will have a period of peace. After the thousand years have passed, the Devil will be released for a short time for a final battle, only to be defeated and cast into the lake of fire for eternity.
