Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 2 Verse 6

In this passage from the Book of Revelation, Jesus is speaking to the church in Ephesus. He praises them for their hard work and perseverance in spite of the many trials they have faced, and states that he knows their works, and that they have labored hard. He then goes on to say that he knows they hate the works of the Nicolaitans, and so does he. The Nicolaitans were a group of people in the early church who were known for their heretical teachings and practices. Jesus is commending the Ephesian church for standing up against them, and for holding fast to the truth of the gospel.
