The Bible in Revelation Chapter 18 Verse 23 says:

and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the princes of the earth; for with thy sorcery were all the nations deceived.

Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 18 Verse 23

Revelation 18:23 speaks of the destruction of Babylon, a symbol for the destruction of all wickedness and evil on earth. The verse states that the light of a lamp will no longer shine in Babylon, symbolizing the darkness of evil that will no longer be present. Furthermore, the voice of the bridegroom and bride will no longer be heard in Babylon, symbolizing the end of joy and celebration in the city. The verse goes on to state that it is because of the merchants and their greed that the cities destruction has come about, as they were the princes of the earth. Finally, the verse states that all nations have been deceived by the city’s sorcery, symbolizing the spiritual darkness that has been cast upon the world.
