Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 17 Verse 10

Revelation 17:10 is part of the larger discussion about the “great harlot” of Babylon who is described as having “seven heads and ten horns.” This verse explains that these seven heads are seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is currently reigning, and one is yet to come. The verse then goes on to say that when the seventh king comes, he will stay in power only briefly. This verse is interpreted in a spiritual sense, with the seven kings representing the seven ages of the world, the five fallen kings representing the past ages, and the two remaining kings representing the present and future ages. It is also interpreted as a prophecy of the coming of Jesus Christ and his brief but powerful reign.
