1 John 5:16
The Bible in 1 John Chapter 5 Verse 16 says:
If any man see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and [God] will give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: not concerning this do I say that he should make request.
Interpretation of 1 John Chapter 5 Verse 16
1 John 5:16 is a reminder that when we witness our brothers and sisters in sin, we should not be quick to judge them, but instead, should pray for them. We should approach God in prayer and ask for mercy and grace for those who have sinned, as long as the sin is not a sin that leads to death. We should not petition God for mercy for those who have committed a sin unto death, as God’s judgment on that is clear. This passage is a reminder to us to be compassionate and merciful to those who have sinned, and to leave God to judge the unrepentant.
