Interpretation of Revelation Chapter 12 Verse 2

Revelation 12:2 is describing a woman clothed with the sun and standing on the moon, with a crown of twelve stars on her head. She is said to be in labor, crying out in pain and anguish. The woman is seen to be giving birth to a male child who will rule the nations with an iron scepter. The woman is identified as the nation of Israel and the male child is seen as the Messiah. This passage provides a vivid image of the birth of Jesus and the hope of salvation He brings to the world. It also serves as a reminder of how God’s people have been called to suffer in childbirth, but will ultimately be delivered and brought to a place of joy and peace.
